Ware CC 2s welcomed Tewin to Widford this Saturday and after winning the toss Dom decided we should bat. With Sam falling early, Andy Joined Phil in the middle and both scored briskly. Then an odd run out saw Andy go for 16 after going walk about. Phil batted nicely for 38 and looked set for a much bigger score before holing out in the deep. With George and Ben now in and changes in the Tewin bowling their skipper bowling well. The scoring rate slowed. George out for 9 and Ben 5, saw Dom and Steve P come to the crease and push the scoring rate along. Steve 40 off 27 before he got run out and Dom 55, saw us start to set a decent total boosted by a 9 run finishing flourish for Barney to set Tewin 185. Ryan and Steve P opened the bowling and birthday boy Ryan bowled well but had no luck. Steve however clean bowled both their openers, their next two batsmen then formed a partnership that survived until the introduction of Sam who bowled well to pick up the next 4 wickets and cause problems for all ending on 4-15 off 8. Including a very sharp catch by George, who has promised to give his dad catching lessons this week. Ben C then picked up a wicket at the other end after a brief spell from Phil. But was swapped by the Skipper for Robert who obliged with 2 wickets both caught behind ending on 2 overs for 1 run and two wickets, Jamie then was given the the ball and picked up the final wicket to see the winning streak continue. Man of the match a well Deserved Steve Price with 40 runs and two important wickets. But this was a very strong all round team performance again with every one contributing to another great win.Week 15
Ware v Broxbourne.
Fantastic game played as it should be played. They batted first and batted well knocking 211 off 40, we bowled pretty well with Pricey getting 2 and 1 each for Kev and Liam. Few drops along the way and overthrown, blame it on the August sun. Dee, Griffin and the returning Sam bowling well without wickets. Tom and Pricey opened at a tremendous rate and it was a tale of jug avoidance at its glorious best with Tom, Si and Kev all falling in the 40s after Fantastic batting. Griff, Kyle and Liam biffing important runs we crept home with a few overs spare. Close!
