Title chase continues!

Ware 2s travelled a short distance to league leaders Bengeo for what was a must win for our title chances. Finally I win a toss and chose to bat on an overcast, windy and green pitch I decided to go attacking ?with the squad we had I believed we could set a score. Andy and Sam opened the batting and it didn’t take long before we lost Andy to the young pacy lad with lots of in swing. Ben joins his brother in the middle, Ben carried on from last weeks aggressive performance and took the attack to the bowlers and started to build a partnership and then the pacy young lad strikes again with the same in swinging ball this time bowling Sam leaving us 36/2 next up is young George still nursing a broken thumb he joins Ben (little and large?) in the middle. George showing maturity beyond his years stroking the ball around looking comfortable hitting several boundaries. The pair went along nicely sharing the runs getting to drinks 92/2 with some help from the extras. Sadly the 74 run partnership came to an end George chipping one to silly mid off he was understandably annoyed with himself but also should be very proud of his innings scoring 20 off 43 balls showing great patience?? in comes Philbert and keeps the score ticking along Ben stuck on 49 for what felt an age finally reaches a well deserved 50 in tricky conditions ?? the runs started to dry up as the bowling was hard to get away and the field spread protecting the boundaries. Bens patience finally run out getting bowled looking to smash it out of Hertford, great innings of 53?Phil batted well and went for 24. Steve, Dom, Justen and Jamie all adding some runs reaching a respectable 165/7 We opened the bowling with Steve and Alex, Bengeo got off to a fast start then Steve breaks through clean bowling the bat 17/1 then Alex strikes finding the edge and a great low down catch from keeper Andy 20/2 change of bowling on came Phil and this was the game changer for me he bowled so well finishing with 8/2/15 ?? Ben joins the attack and also bowled very well constantly keeping the bats under pressure which led to the next wicket. Ware are now on top and looking good for the win but still needed wickets. Bengeo kept plugging away keeping it interesting and we had hold our nerves. Justen bowled well and deserved more ending on 4/0/20 ??We brought on the spin duo of Sam and Jamie both bowled well Sam taking 6/2/24 A run out by Dom and Steve left Bengeo struggling that left Steve and Alex to finish off the innings and Steve bowler of the day ending on a impressive 7.4/3/8 unbelievable scenes at the end with his last wicket to get the victory. MOTM this week was the toughest yet, it could of gone to a number of players but it goes to Ben C for not only this week’s performance but last week as well, playing with great confidence with bat and ball. Well done Ben? Special mentions to Rob whose fielding was outstanding in the covers with some great stops saving many runs ?? also Andy behind the stumps with two fine catches and always helping me captain the side. A massive thank you to everyone one involved today a great team effort it shows we have a great spirit to keep fighting and winning tight games?? Next week home to Tewin get your availability in, we are in a genuine title race. Let’s go ware. ?

Week 14.
Ware v Hoddesdon.
We batted first and it was another amazing ton plus partnership between Tom and Pricey with Tom first out on 31. This was up against an excellent bowling display by their youngsters who all played their part in making it very difficult. Pricey though batted superbly for his second ton of the year, well played! More unswerving bashed but after a little wobble it was down to Kev to produce a show stopping 50. They showed spirit with the bat with their youngster getting a great 50 despite good bowling from Dee and Graeme who got a wicket. Kev and Pricey bowling broke them and it was left to Joel, Nick and Riz to mop up the tail. Good game!
